Getting started
From sign-up to your first match in a few minutes.
How do I set up my account?
- Create an account with your email and verify it with the 6-digit code we send you.
- Upload your resume (PDF or Word, up to 5 MB). We extract your skills, experience and education.
- Review what we found and fix anything that's wrong or missing.
- Set your targets: job titles, location, work arrangement, salary and other preferences.
- Turn on alerts if you want to hear about new matching jobs.
You can change any of this later from your Resume page or Account settings.
How do I analyze a job?
Open a job from Job Search and choose Analyze match, or paste any job description from another site on your Resume page. The analysis takes a few seconds and uses 2 credits.
How do I track applications?
Save a job or mark it as applied and it appears in Applications. Move it through each stage, add notes, next steps, deadlines and interviews. You can also add jobs you found elsewhere. Tracking is free.
Which file types can I upload?
PDF and Word (.docx) files up to 5 MB. Text-based files work best. A scanned image of a resume may not be read correctly.
How match scores work
We'd rather tell you the truth than tell you what you want to hear.
What does the match score mean?
A full match analysis compares your resume with a specific job posting and gives an overall score from 0 to 100, plus separate scores for skills, experience, keywords, education and certifications. The overall score is a holistic judgement, not a simple average: a missing must-have requirement can matter more than several nice-to-haves.
You also get a verdict:
- Recommended (roughly 75+): you're a strong fit. Apply.
- Tailor first (roughly 55–74): worth applying after you address the gaps.
- Not yet: there are significant gaps for this role right now.
How is it calculated?
We send the job posting and the structured content of your resume to an AI model (Claude, by Anthropic), with instructions to be candid and specific and never to invent experience you don't have. It returns the scores, your strengths, the gaps, suggested actions, keywords found and missing, and up to three stronger rewrites of your existing bullets.
Scores on the Job Search list are a quicker estimate based on your skills and targets. Run a full analysis for the detailed picture.
What is ATS keyword coverage?
Many employers use an applicant-tracking system (ATS) to filter resumes by keywords. The analysis lists the important keywords from the posting that your resume already contains, and the ones it doesn't. Separately, your resume gets an ATS readability score based on how easily a system can read its layout, headings and dates.
Only add a missing keyword if it truly reflects your experience.
Why is my score lower than I expected?
Usually because required skills or keywords from the posting don't appear on your resume, or your experience is described in different terms. Open the analysis to see exactly what's missing. Make sure your resume details are complete on the Resume page, as the analysis can only use what's there.
Can I trust the result?
Treat it as a well-informed second opinion, not a guarantee. AI can misread a resume or a posting, and results can vary slightly between runs. Always review suggestions, and never submit anything that isn't accurate. A score doesn't predict whether an employer will contact you.
What is a tailored resume?
After an analysis, you can generate a version of your resume that emphasises what's relevant to that job and works in the keywords you choose, using only facts already on your resume. It costs 3 credits. Review and edit it before you use it.
Credits & billing
Search, alerts and tracking are free. AI features use credits.
What costs credits?
- Match analysis: 2 credits
- Tailored resume: 3 credits
- Job search, alerts and the application tracker: free
Credits are deducted when you start. If something fails on our side, the credits are returned automatically. Your balance is always shown in the header.
What plans are there?
- Free: all the non-AI features, plus free starter credits when you sign up.
- Pro: $19 a month for 3,000 credits every month.
- Credit packs: one-time top-ups in several sizes, with or without a plan, including a $9 pack with 1,200 credits.
- Promo codes: got a code from a friend? Enter it under Account › Billing & credits › Have a code? to add free credits. Each code works once per person.
Current prices are shown under Account › Billing and at checkout. Payments are handled securely by Stripe.
Do unused credits roll over?
Monthly plan credits reset on your renewal date and don't roll over. Credits from one-time packs never expire. When you use a feature, plan credits are used first.
How do I cancel Pro?
Go to Account › Billing and manage your subscription. Pro stays active until the end of the period you've paid for, then won't renew. Your pack credits stay in your account.
Can I get a refund?
Credits and subscription payments are non-refundable except where the law requires. If you were charged in error or something went wrong, contact us and we'll look into it. See the Terms for details.
I paid but my credits haven't arrived
Credits are added a few seconds after Stripe confirms the payment. Refresh the page. If they still haven't appeared after a few minutes, contact us with the date and amount of the payment.
Privacy & data
The full details are in our Privacy Policy.
Who can see my resume?
Only you. Employers can't browse Path profiles, and we don't send your resume to anyone when you apply. Applying takes you to the employer's or job board's own site. To produce your results, your resume and job text are processed by our service providers, including our AI provider, as described in the Privacy Policy.
Is my data used to train AI?
No. Under our agreement with our AI provider, the resume and job text we send isn't used to train its models. We don't use your data to train models either.
How do I download my data?
Go to Account › Security › Download my data. You'll get a file with your profile, resume details, preferences, applications, analyses and other account data.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Account › Security and choose Delete account. You'll be signed out on all devices right away and your data is permanently erased 30 days later. If you deleted it by mistake, contact us within those 30 days. Cancel any paid plan first so you're not charged again.
Where is my data stored?
On secure servers in the United States (our database is in US East, Ohio). All traffic is encrypted, and passwords are stored only as one-way hashes.
What cookies do you use?
One essential cookie that keeps you signed in, and your browser's local storage to remember display preferences like your colour theme. No advertising or tracking cookies.
